A Great Point: Acupuncture Can Boost Your Fertility

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

By Kristen Hart The ancient Chinese believed that energy-forces called meridians ran through the body. Blockages along these meridians could lead to sickness and other ailments, including infertility. Chinese acupuncture practitioners treat these blockages by painlessly inserting slender needles at different points along the meridians. Today many health professionals believe that acupuncture stimulates nerves and causes the body to release chemicals that help it to heal itself. So how could this impact your fertility? The use of acupuncture for fertility is just beginning to be explored by modern fertility experts. Studies are already showing that women who choose acupuncture along with other fertility boosting strategies have a higher rate of conception. It is possible that acupuncture stimulates the brain to produce more endorphins, which help relax the body and make you more open to conception. Relaxation and stress relief have long been proven to help women conceive. Acupuncture may also stimulate the nervous system and allow it to function more effectively. When this occurs your body receives all the signals that it needs. These signals range from the already mentioned cue to produce more endorphins to signals that tell your reproductive organs to function. Your body needs clear and open nerve channels to interpret signals to produce the hormones that help to make your body open to conception. It is also vital that it get all signals to produce the hormones that will sustain your baby once conception has occurred. It has also been suggested that acupuncture may help to improve blood flow to the body, including to the vital ovaries, where your eggs are stored and ripen each month. Increased blood flow to the uterus allows a thick and nourishing lining to build up in preparation for your newly conceived baby. Research is pointing to acupuncture as a viable and cost effective way to improving fertility and overall health. Acupuncture practitioners also study herbs and use them in tandem with acupuncture techniques. A trained acupuncturist will be able to advise you on herbs to boost your fertility along with your acupuncture treatment. How to Evolve a Financial Success System

Monday, August 27th, 2007

By Roy Thomsitt More often than not, people associate success with money and wealth. While that is a lopsided view of success, it is true that success often brings with it financial rewards; it is also true that many people who aspire to success are thinking of the financial rewards that will follow when they succeed. But what if your idea of success is purely financial? In that case, it could be that you are looking for a financial success system that will help you achieve your financial objective. In two other articles I discussed the use of project management techniques in achieving personal success. In that case, we looked at “Project Success” and how we could plan for it. Why not apply more business techniques, this time to money, and develop a financial success system or plan? In most respects, your personal finances are no different to a business’s finances. The underlying principles are the same. As a former professional management accountant, I can assure you that the way a company’s or organisation’s finances are, or should be, run is fundamentally similar to the way your own finances should be run. Every company will have systems in place that are designed to further the success of the company, as well as protect its assets from misappropriation. In effect, they put in a financial success system that should enable them to run the business profitably and by so doing build assets. The main elements of a company’s financial system can quite easily be recognised as good practice in your own personal financial system. The statutory requirements are quite different, but from a financial management point of view there are some helpful similarities an individual can learn from. If you apply some of the following business finance fundamentals to your own approach to personal finance, then over time you will develop a finance success system that will grow your wealth for the rest of your life. 1. Budgeting Setting and managing budgets is a routine part of any business; they are a key tool in financial control. A home budget is vitally important too. Get into the habit of setting and monitoring your personal budget of income and expenditure, and you will have the foundation of a financial success plan. 2. Investment Appraisal Whenever a company decides to spend money on a large capital item or new product, for example, it may carry out an investment appraisal. You will not have such large spending decisions to make, but the important thing is to consciously assess the expenditure. Will it build your financial success or hinder it? For example, if you are buying a car, which will depreciate, there is a high risk it will diminish your personal assets significantly and set back your finance success plan. When it is time to indulge, be sure it is the right time. 3. Building Assets A company builds assets by consistently being profitable, investing wisely, and developing the business at a sensible and sustainable pace. Being profitable is earning more revenue than you spend in expenditure. The same is true of you as an individual; always ensure you earn more each month than you spend. The balance (savings) goes into your spare assets, which can build over time, especially with sound investment. 4. Balance Sheet Creating a balance sheet in a large business can be quite complex. A simplified version may help you keep an eye on your own asset status. Preparing a rough balance sheet once a year, showing your assets on one side and liabilities on the other, will give you an idea of your personal worth, in financial terms. By comparing year on year, you can ensure you are making progress. If you use a home budget software program, it may have a balance sheet facility to help you. 5. Regular Financial Reporting Companies have a legal obligation to produce accounts each financial year. Your legal requirements are for your personal tax purposes only. However, a business does not rely just on annual accounts, and nor should you. It is likely they will have management accounts on at least a monthly basis, to allow management to keep track of the way business is progressing. You should also follow that example, and keep a close watch on your budget each month, and react accordingly. 6. Cash Flow Forecasting Even a profitable company can have problems keeping going if it does not manage its cash flow properly. In fact, it is a common reason for companies to cease trading. As part of your budgeting, ensure you incorporate cash flow forecasting, that way you can allow for peaks and troughs in income and expenditure without hitting problems with paying bills on time. Missing payments can prove expensive to your overall wealth, so is best avoided at all times. 7. Investment and Treasury If all goes according to plan, you will have surplus cash. A company will have a treasurer for that, but in your case that treasurer is you. Take that role seriously, and over time you will be a financial success. If you have a partner, it makes sense to involve them in this, and other parts of your plan for financial security. Investment is a fascinating subject, so if you can learn about it, you will be well placed to do better than an average investor. Investment is about balancing risk and return, and if you can master that without taking silly risks, you should do well financially. On top of those purely financial aspects, there are other key areas to a business that will affect finances that you could learn from: 1. Marketing. Keep an eye on the market place for the type of success you are seeking and your areas of expertise. Try to anticipate how that market may develop and prepare yourself ahead of everyone else. You are worth more if you are ahead of the game, whatever field you may be. For example, when I was 20 I decided it was a good idea, long term, to learn as much about computing and finance as possible, as eventually they would be key in every organisation. That was before pc’s existed, and it proved a sensible decision, even though my main aim was to be a writer. 2. Education and Training of Key Personnel As an individual, the more you educate yourself about many aspects of life, both personal and commercial, the better placed you are to become wealthy. Never become complacent about your own knowledge; over time it will decline in importance, so you need to refresh it constantly. Train yourself, educate yourself, continuous. Those are just a few ideas of how you may use business finance practices to build your own financial success over the long term. Follow those, and you should not go far wrong, and prepare yourself for a rebound should anything ever go wrong, such as redundancy or divorce, which can scupper even the best of financial plans. The Dog House: You Don’t Want To Be There

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

By Catherine Ipcizade You didnt mean to fight with her. You didnt even know you upset her until a day later when she sent a courier to your apartment with a box full of your stuff. So what can you do to make things right again? Men and women may not be from different planets, but lets face it, their communication is. Men tend to speak from their heads. They see a problem, and they want to fix it. Thats where the handyman comes in. Tell a guy youve had a bad day and hell tell you how to turn it around. Tell him your meeting with the big boss is coming and youre stressed out and hell want to go over interview skills with you. Guys are inherently problem solvers. That works great until women get involved. The female mind is a mystery unto itself. Only women can think of 50 things at the same time while juggling several tasks together. And although women too enjoy problem solving, when a crisis is at hand, they lead with their hearts. When a woman has a bad day, she wants to be listened to. When she tells her guy about that big meeting with the boss, she just wants him to sympathize. She doesnt need the pointers. If she does, shell ask for them outright. What she needs to know is that her man cares. If your girl comes to you with a concern in your relationship, the best thing you can do is to give her your full attention. Resist the urge to jump in with rationales and solutions. Instead, try taking her hand, looking directly into her eyes, and actively listening. Chances are, shell appreciate the effort and youll both be able to enjoy your day together. It can be hard to deal with your girls emotions, especially if shes the sensitive type. A little patience can go a long way in this department. Validate her feelings and you wont get stuck talking till 3a.m. When youre already in the doghouse, heres a foolproof way to fix it fast Be sincere. Thats it. Flowers are nice, sure, but they dont say what she needs to hear. She needs to know that you care, that you want to listen to her, that her needs matter to you. Give her that and youll be back in her arms in no time. Catherine Ipcizade is a freelance writer living in California. Faith That Moves Mountains: First, Forget The Mountain

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

By Rob Marshall When reading Jesus’ words in Mark 11:22-24, I have never known whether the mountain he mentions is symbolic or real. The Bible simply says, “‘Have faith in God,’ Jesus answered. ‘I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, “Go, throw yourself into the sea,” and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.’” If Jesus didn’t mean a real live mountain, then the symbol of the mountain could be anything from a mountain of problems to a mountain of debt. The mountain could symbolize any big problem that we face and that we feel we can’t budge. I have heard some teach that the mountain symbolizes the Law of God, and that He’s really teaching that we can have forgiveness by faith. And when we read Mark 11:25, I can see how that might be one way to interpret this verse. I just wonder why He gives us such a big promise as, “Whatever you ask for in prayer,” if all He really meant was forgiveness. But if Jesus was talking about a real mountain, it could mean that we have the power to change the physical universe, and that our faith and our prayers are far more powerful than we have ever imagined. It would mean that we could go far beyond just changing our situation, because we can literally change the world. For the moment, let’s just forget the mountain. What difference does it really make if He meant a symbolic, or a real, mountain? What does it mean to us that Jesus said, “if anyone…does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him?” The first thing it means to me is that I have a very small, limited picture of what faith is able to do. It means that I need to open my eyes to just how big and powerful God is, and that I need to constantly remind myself, “With God, all things are possible.” The second thing it tells me is that my problem isn’t a lack of faith; it’s an abundance of doubts. Those doubts can come from being unclear about what we want and extend to being unclear about God’s love and power. If I doubt God’s love for me, my faith will suffer. Finally what these verses tell me is that my faith needs to be in God, and not in my faith. It’s not about what I believe in, but who I believe in. When I believe in God, all things will be possible because He is the one that makes them possible. The same faith that helped David defeat Goliath is in everyone of us. In “Taking On Goliath - How To Unleash The David In All Of Us,” author Rob Marshall shows you how to unleash your faith, overcame any obstacle, and live your dreams.www.TakingOnGoliath.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Rob_Marshall http://EzineArticles.com/?Faith-That-Moves-Mountains:-First,-Forget-The-Mountain&id=306879 irs like mortgage in interest a rates this as well of what june much 26 but 2007 did lowest of refinancing a mortgage from rate you lowest same mortgage by rate do year came sarasota could county if florida a mortgage while rates a 2 he year all discount very mortgage get uk you

Market Penetration - Match Customer Type to Revenue Goals

Monday, August 20th, 2007

By Joshua Feinberg Market penetration refers to the process of gaining market share by introducing your product to customers. When you are planning your business strategy it is important to consider market penetration issues in terms of your revenue goals. If you need to generate a certain level of revenue, then a market penetration analysis will help you determine the type and number of customers you need to achieve your target. Market Penetration Analysis First you need to determine your revenue goal for the next twelve months. Then you need to figure out how much of that revenue will be generated per client. Let’s look at an example: Say you wanted to do $120k in revenue for your company within the next 12 months. In terms of market penetration you have to determine whether that is going to be earned from six clients at $20k each, 12 clients at $10k each, or 20 clients at $6k each? Market penetration analysis forces you to consider your average client size. This will help you determine your sweet spot customer. The bigger the client the more services you can provide and the fewer clients you need overall and vice versa. But this is only the first step. To make market penetration decisions you also need to analyze the number and types of businesses in your area. Are there enough businesses who can afford $20k of service per year? It’s fine to have a market penetration strategy that targets large businesses but this target market must be realistic. By fitting your market penetration strategy with the types of businesses in your area you will be able to achieve your revenue goals. The Bottom Line on Market Penetration Market penetration is a strategy that looks at the type and number of target customers for you business. It is a strategy that starts with your total revenue goal. Market penetration is important to your overall business success and you need to make sure that you sweet spot clients will actually be able to generate the amount of revenue your business needs. Why Smart People Don’t Know How to Market

Monday, August 20th, 2007

By Kelly O’Brien As an educated professional, your success is based on what you know, your education, your intelligence, and your creativity. Even if youre just starting out, youve achieved success just to get your many degrees and pass those licensing exams! Your clients return and refer because you apply your expertise and insight to guide them to appropriate answers for their unique situations. But whos growing your business while youre busy tending to your clients needs? What are you doing to attract and maintain a steady stream of qualified, motivated prospects? How do you find and keep interesting clients who pay you what youre worth? Like most professionals, you may not be able to answer those questions because the answer involves marketing. Sure, referrals can be a decent source of new clients, but theyre only one approach in a system of balanced strategies for guaranteeing youll have many desirable clients for as long as you wish. It doesnt matter how many referrals you get, if you dont know how to build and extend the potential relationship that each referral represents. As a Smart Person, you have lots of options at your disposal for attracting more clients to your firm. And they dont have to include the expensive things that spring to mind when you say “marketing,” such as slick brochures, advertising, or direct mail. However, your professional expertise alone will not differentiate you in a crowded marketplacenor will it bring clients to you. Youve got to let them know you exist and help them understand why youre different why you are uniquely qualified to address their needs. This is called positioning. It takes some thoughtful, creative work to nail this first, most important step in attracting more clients. Once youve determined your positioning, you have four more major steps that will bring clients to you and your firm: packaging, promotion, persuasion, and performance. Each step requires that you are able to communicate with your target client audience in a variety of ways that they can understand in their need-based language, not your expert language. In a nutshell, here are some of your strategies for each major step to attract more clients: Positioning: niche, specialty, specialness, reputation, unique competitive advantage, client-centered worldview, saying no, commitment, no Plan B, congruence, self knowledge, re-niche Packaging: knowledge-sharing, articles, reports, surveys, web sites, slide decks, CDs/cassettes, videos, books, mini-books Promotion: knowledge-sharing, speaking, writing, networking, referrals, newsletters, e-newsletters, letters, postcards, calls, teleclasses Persuasion: listening, diagnosis, openness, curiosity, visioning, education, presentations, asking, recommending, assuring, sharing Performance: competence, solutions, results, keep promises, manage expectations, intelligence, creativity, guarantees, thank yous, commitment, walking the talk, innovation, persistence, integrity, generosity, alignment inside firm, staying in touch, management competence Chances are, youre on a learning curve in one or more of these major steps. Even if youve been in business for years and have built a successful firm, taking your practice to the next level means setting new metrics, ensuring your niche hasnt grown stale, and learning new ways to reach that next stage in your firms growth or maturity. For larger firms, maybe now its time to pay attention to how your firm delivers on your brand promise do principals, management, and staff really “walk the talk” of what you promise in the marketplace? Or are you, like many professional service firms, a cobbler whose children have no shoes? Or perhaps you serve “internal clients” inside of a very large organization, and need support or buy-in for the services your department offers. You can put these principles and strategies to work for your work to get noticed, get invited, attract positive attention, and get buy-in. So whats a Smart Person to do to attract more clients? Here are some suggestions: Raise the role of strategic marketing in your practice to a conscious level. Get it on the agenda and apply your smarts to it, just like you do with any other crucial aspect of your business. Create a niche for your practice you cannot be all things to all people. However just because you enjoy working with a particular market or prefer a special approach, it doesnt mean your target clients will. You need to understand the difference between a good niche and a bad niche, and strategize accordingly. Lynda Falkensteins NicheCraft is an excellent source of ideas. Position yourself to others through their worldview, not yours. Instead of saying, “Im a strategy consultant,” start with “I help (Fortune 500) companies (increase market share).” Obviously youd tailor the statement to fit who you help and what problem you address, but you get the idea. For tons of information on how to get this right, Robert Middleton of Action Plan Marketing is the guru on what he calls creating an “audiologo.” Develop a system of marketing strategies that both attracts new clients and helps you retain the ones you have. Start with the metrics of what you want to change or improve in your practice and tie the system to driving those metrics. Develop an action plan that translates your marketing system into specific tasks, with real assignments, deliverables, and deadlines. Commit to and put a system in place to keep you on track and motivated as you work through your plan. Build non-billable time into your business model dedicated to marketing. A rule of thumb is at least 20% of your firms time should be allocated to marketing. Get expert help and resources for any of these suggestions, including implementation. For many professional service firms, this requires getting away for a day or two of focused thinking and discussion among key people. When you consider that stakes, its well worth the time and effort. There are actually two more “ps” in marketing. Intelligent, effective marketing requires a great deal of patienceand the ability to see this not as a series of transactions completed in a few weeks or even months, but as a relationship-building process with your current and future clients over time. Marketing really is a life-skill and something to learn as one of your core competencies as an educated professional. Now thats being smart! What Your Admissions Essay Absolutely Must Be About!

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

By Michael Conner Over the years when I’ve helped students with their writing and their preparation for college one of the things that has always amazed me is that many students have no idea what their college admission essay should be about. Simply put the essay is about YOU. No matter what the question you are writing about is, no matter how strangely or obliquely the question is phrased YOU MUST WRITE ABOUT YOU. Although the admissions essay is becoming more important every year, it still is NOT the most important part of your application packet. For the vast majority of colleges and universities, the admissions office will use the essay as a tiebreaker. If two students are very close in grades, character, recommendations, and test scores, the student with the better essay has a better chance of being admitted. The admission official is looking for something that will push the applications over into the pile he or she will recommend for acceptance. However, rarely, if ever is an admissions essay going to gain admittance with a weak academic record, lack of participation in high school activities, and poor test scores. So don’t bank on your admissions essay to carry the ball for you. A well-written essay that isn’t backed by academic records and test scores indicate that someone else wrote the student’s admission essay. Take a moment and think about how the admissions official will use your essay and what he or she wants. He or she wants to know something about you. He or she wants to know what makes you more worthy of admission than someone else. When you are writing your essay make it personal. Make it about you! For example suppose you are asked about a person who has affected you, a common question. Think of a person, say your high school German teacher and write about the important things he or she did that influenced you. Note, it doesn’t really have to be true, it just has to make the admissions staff believe that it is true and the teacher has influenced you positively. Try to indicate some growth due to the persons influence. Consider the following essay: On my first day of German class in my freshman year, I almost walked out of the class. Like many of my classmates, I felt confused by the new larger school with the new larger schoolmates and I felt intimidated. When I arrived late to German class, the instructor, Mr. Garrison lectured me in front of the other members of the class. I felt humiliated and was ready to change my schedule. I’m still not sure why, but for some reason I stuck it out. It turned out to be a good thing that I did. Mr. Garrison challenged me. When I didn’t do well on a quiz or mispronounced a word, I could feel Mr. Garrison’s disapproval. When I did well, I didn’t receive overt praise, but I felt proud I had met my teacher’s challenge. It wasn’t easy, but I worked as hard as I could. I ended up getting a C+ my first quarter; less than I had hoped for, but better than many of my friends. I continued to work and got a A- for the semester. I increased my efforts, determined to get a better grade. At the end of the year, I am almost positive there was a twinkle in Mr. Garrison’s eye as he handed me my grade report. I ended up taking four years of German from Mr. Garrison. He taught me a lot, and not just German. He taught me to push myself, he taught me how to learn, most importantly, he taught me never to give up. If I’d run out of Mr. Garrison’s classroom that first day, I don’t know if I would have ever learned these important lessons. I doubt if I would have worked so hard in high school. I doubt if many universities would even consider me for enrollment. Fortunately I didn’t drop out that first day, I have Mr. Garrison to thank for much of my success as a student and my growth as a person. I’ll always remember him and be grateful. Notice that the essay shows progress from a poorer, immature student to one who has gained skills and has grown into a responsible young adult who wants to continue using the tools Mr. Garrison taught him while attending the university. 7,389,432 Weight Loss Tips Guaranteed To Help You Lose Weight

By Donovan Baldwin A week or so ago, I was in the check-out line at the supermarket and saw a blurb on the cover of a magazine. The headline read: “Breakthrough! FAT LOSS VITAMIN!”, and the text beneath it said, “95% of us don’t get enough. Safely boost your intake and:Lose 5 lbs a week!Burn 30% more fat every day!” The magazine was Woman’s World. Being in the business of health, fitness, diet and weight loss, this claim intrigued me so I threw a copy of the magazine in the buggy, and read the article when I got home. Very briefly, here’s what the article had to say: Most people don’t get enough Vitamin C, and Vitamin C can help your body burn more fat. Now, this was interesting, and since I believe most people don’t get the nutrients they need, I was willing to go along with the idea of increasing your normal intake of Vitamin C, either by increasing the amount of things such as orange juice, which is good for you anyway and it contains a lot of Vitamin C, or by use of Vitamin C supplements. The information in the article made sense, and, when I did a little independent online investigation, I found that apparently the article was reasonably accurate. I don’t have a particular problem with the information in this article, and agree that increasing Vitamin C could help someone lose weight. This brings us to the slightly exaggerated title of this article. Everyday, it seems we are bombarded with all these claims about weight loss, fat loss, diets and health. One person says their pill will deal with cortisol, which is the cause of weight gain. Another says their diet will “melt” the fat. Someone else wants to hypnotize you, and that will do the trick. The covers of many other magazines at the checkout on the day I bought my magazine had different tips, hints, diets, and weight loss solutions. All these people can’t be telling the truth, can they? Is weight gain the result of cortisol, poor diet, lack of exercise, not enough Vitamin C, lack of sleep, stress, too much beer, or just bad genes? Actually, the answer to both questions is, “Yes…sort of…” The actual biological process by which people get fat is known. The solution is also known, and it doesn’t have much to do with Vitamin C, cortisol, genes, or a lot of other things…directly. A runner who wishes to run faster gets there by training at running and trying to run faster. However, that runner can also strengthen his or her legs by using weight training. They can improve their performance, or perhaps reach their goal faster, by eating a certain type of diet…maybe even making changes in that diet at different points of their training or competition schedule. If stress is inhibiting their performance, learning to meditate might help them put that stress behind them or at least relieve it enough so that their times improve. If their home life or work schedule is such that it interferes with their training, rest, or nutrition schedules, then making a change in those areas may improve their athletic performance. Even so, the main thing in their running training is…running! Everything else just helps with the speed of development or the amount of progress that is ultimately made. The same thing applies to most weight loss situations and so-called solutions. Increasing physical activity and eating reasonably are the two major things that bring about healthy, permanent weight loss. If, in your exercise program, you choose to supplement with Vitamin C, or get more sleep, or take something which reduces the effects of cortisol, or quit your job because it interferes with your weight loss program, then you will probably enhance the results. You will lose more weight over time, lose the weight a bit faster, or just find the whole process easier. However, the major portion of the weight loss (and improved health and enjoyment of life), comes from the basics of exercise and nutrition. So what about the people who DID lose weight by breathing properly, or taking Vitamin C, or adding Chocolate to their diet? People are all different, and so are the facts and factors of their lifestyles, education, upbringing, and genetic makeup. Someone who is one dress size bigger than she wants to be may get all the weight loss she needs from increasing HER Vitamin C intake. That does NOT mean that every woman will experience the SAME results. Another woman may need to lose a lot more than one dress size, and taking Vitamin C, while it might help her shed a few pounds and be more healthy overall, will probably NOT produce anywhere near the total results she hopes to achieve. If, however, she IS doing the right things to bring about weight loss, adding the Vitamin C may speed the process a bit and help get her to her goal a little faster, Just as in the title of this article, the key word in all these claims is “help” whether it is stated or merely implied. True healthy, permanent weight loss will be the result of a combination of activity and nutrition. All the other things, which may certainly be of value, are just helping.
